Friendship Marathon to be held during Dalat
Flower Festival
400 local and international athletes are expected
to run the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Marathon,
announced Lam Dong Province's People's Committee
last week.
The marathon will take place on December 17
in Dalat during the city's Flower Festival.
Organizers
anticipate that half of the athletes will be
local, while the other half will travel from
Japan, Japanese participants are to include
Murayama Tomiichi, the former Prime minister
of Japan and chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Peace
Foundation and Mari Tanigawa, a top marathon
runner.
The
athletes will compete in three distences-10K,
half-marathon, and marathon. The race will begin
at the Dalat flower garden, circle Xuan Huong
Lake, cut through pine tree forests, weave along
streets throughout the city, and end at the
Lam Dong's Children House at 38 Tran Phu Street.
