expects greater economic ties with Vietnam

Lauten, on October 1, said that Germany is determined
to improve economic and cultural ties with Vietnam.
The diplomat made the statement at a ceremony
held in the southern business city, to mark
the 17th German Reunification Day (October 3).
"Representatives from the German Chamber
of Commerce, the German Business Association,
the German Development Bank (KFW) and the German
Technical Co-operation (GTZ), as well as representatives
from development co-operation organisations,
the Goethe Institute and other institutions
are all determined to strengthen economic and
cultural ties between Germany and Vietnam in
2008," Lauten said.

Thanh Long, President of the Vietnam-Germany
Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City,
thanked German businesses for their contributions
to socio-economic development in Vietnam's southern
economic hub.
