Radio Australia has extended its coverage in the Pacific, opening a new relay on Vanuatu's Santo island.

The 24 hour service will mirror the relay service already in the capital, Port Vila.

Radio Australia's chief executive Hanh Tran says it will complement the work of Vanuatu's public broadcaster, VBTC and continues Radio Australia's long association with the Pacific nation.

The service will share technical facilities with Radio France International.
