Thailand
shines in Smart Travel Asia’s 2007 readers
poll
Thailand has been given the big thumbs up by
both prime business and leisure travellers in
Smart Travel Asia this month and has been ranked
as one of the most popular destinations in Asia.
The travel and tourism website conducted the
“Best in travel poll 2007” in order
to rate and rank airlines, airports, cities
and hotels across Asia.
Thai destinations and facilities appeared in
the top ten of every category, often appearing
several times in one particular section.
The
results saw Phuket voted as the second best
holiday destination in Asia behind Bali, while
Bangkok shared 6th place with Rajhastan. Koh
Samui took the eighth spot and Hua Hin ninth
position. Bangkok was also rated as the third
best city for business, behind Hong Kong and
Singapore, whilst the capital’s new airport
came fourth. Phuket’s Amanpuri hotel came
top of the list for the leisure hotel category
and Bangkok’s Conrad hotel took fourth
place for top business hotels. To top it off,
Thai Airways International was ranked the third
best airline.
The
poll ran from May-July 2007, with participants
holding a key interest in travel to or within
Asia. Voters averaged 14.79 overseas trips in
the past 12 months.
