Iranian Foreign Minister Mottaki and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon have explored ways to boost bilateral cooperation in economic fields.
In a meeting between Mottaki and Rahmon in Ashgabat on Monday, the two officials exchanged views on joint projects currently underway in Tajikistan, including construction of the Anzab Tunnel and the Sangtoudeh II Power Plant.
Quadrilateral cooperation between Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, expansion of ties with the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and agreements already reached between Rahmon and his Iranian counterpart, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, were among other issues raised at the meeting.
Mottaki is expected to deliver a speech at the Conference of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia, which is headquartered in Ashgabat.
He is also to hold talks with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov on the sidelines of the meeting.
