Reigning champs Al-Sadd, who were expected to give Al-Gharrafa a tough time in the league, fell further behind when they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Al-Arabi, in the other featured match held on Monday.
Qatar SC continued their recent impressive form with a 4-2 win over Umm Salal - thanks in part to a brace from Sebastian Soria. The win was the club's second win in three outings under the helm of newly-signed Bosnian supremo Dzemaludin Musovic.
Surprise package Al-Wakra, coached by Germany’s Rainer Hollman, maintained their status at the third place with a 2-0 home win over Al-Khor, thanks to goals from former Hlolland-based attacking pair Adel Ramzy and Ali Boussaboun.
