Arajuo converted a 66th minute penalty and Bashir’s second consolidated Al-Gharrafa's lead as the runaway leaders defeated Al-Rayyan to take their tally to 25 points from a maximum 27, at the end of week nine.

Reigning champs Al-Sadd, who were expected to give Al-Gharrafa a tough time in the league, fell further behind when they could only manage a 1-1 draw against Al-Arabi, in the other featured match held on Monday.
