Moldova: TRM conditions
TRM, the Moldovan broadcaster, has started to receive applications in order to select the song and the artist for the country's national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. “Moldova 1”, is extending an open invitation to composers and singers to present their projects for the Moldovan national final.
Apart from the standard EBU rules, TRM states that the contest is open to foreign composers and songwriters as well. The participating artists, though, have to be Moldovan citizens. It is also possible for foreign performers to be present on stage but the number is limited to 2 per act and only in supporting roles (backing vocalists or dancers). The deadline for submissions is 11 December.
Every entrant can only participate for a single country.
After the jury has listened to the songs and selected the twelve finalists, the participants will have to perform live. This year the public will also have the opportunity to have a say in the country's preselection process as the winner will be decided through a televised show by a mixture of televote and jury vote.
It is already known that Olia Tira will be bidding again this year. Last year, Moldova chose internally and Olia was in the jury's top three together with Natalia Barbu and Zdob si Zdub.
