Malaysian
shares higher as Asian stock markets gain, Telekom
rises 10 percent
Malaysian shares were higher Monday morning
as other Asian stock markets rallied, with strong
buying interest in index heavyweights, especially
Telekom Malaysia.
At 10.06 am (0806 GMT), the Kuala Lumpur Composite
Index was up 11.31 points or 0.9 percent at
1,347.61.
The FTSE Bursa Malaysia 30 large-cap index advanced
77.67 points to 8,491.12 and the second board
index inched up 0.12 point or 0.1 percent to
105.91.
Gainers led losers 273 to 165, while 228 counters
were unchanged.
Volume was 278.838 million shares valued at
350.705 million ringgit.
