10-men Libya stun Saudi Arabia
by Fil Balad
The Saudis had a very quick start of the game as Saoud Kariry opened the scoring in the 9th minute as he rose high to convert a corner kick after only nine minutes.
Osama Al-Fazani cancelled the lead 15 minutes later connecting with a corner also.
But Fawzi Benzarti’s men suffered a huge blow as Mohamed Al-Maghrabi was sent off seven minutes after the break leaving his team-mates with only 10 men battling on the field.
The Tunisian tactician had to bring in his ace Tarek Al-Tayeb, who hasn’t fully recovered from an injury picked against United Arab Emirates three days ago, to win the game.
The Hilal playmaker crossed an excellent free kick on Daoud’s head to snatch the full points of the game in injury time.
Libya joined Egypt on top of the standing with six points to boost their chances for the golden medal.
