Hong
Kong targets Olympics for growth
The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has identified
the 2008 Olympics Games as an opportunity to
boost the number of tourists visiting the city.
Hong Kong will host the Olympics' equestrian
events next year and this is expected to build
on the success that the city has already experienced
in 2007.
In the first eight months of this year Hong
Kong welcomed over 380,000 UK visitors, 20%
more than in the corresponding period in 2006.
Richard Hume, HKTB director for northern Europe,
said that a major online campaign will be launched
to raise awareness of Hong Kong among the travelling
public.
The destination was recently showcased at the
Blenheim Horse Trials and will be publicised
again at a number of equestrian shows next year.
