Africa Saadane Announces Algeria
by Goal.com
Algeria coach Raba Saadane is eager for his team to overcome their disappointing failure to qualify for the African Cup of Nations with a win over Mali.
The overwhelmingly European-based squad convenes in Rouen soon for a meeting with Mali on Tuesday 20th November, which is also to take place in the northern French city.
Les Fennecs parted company with former boss Jean-Michel Cavalli after failing to qualify for the 2008 Nations Cup, losing out to Gambia in their final game to ensure that they finished on just 8 points in their group.
With Mali set to take part in the Ghana-based tournament in January, the game arguably matters more for the opposition, but Saadane will nonetheless be eager to start brightly.
The squad in full:
Goalkeepers: Lounes Gaouaoui (Widad Tlemcen), Mohamed Ousserir (Chabab Belouizdad)
Defenders: Madjid Bougherra (Charlton Athletic), Ismael Bouzid (Galatasaray), Mohamed Rabie Meftah (JS Kabylie), Mehdi Meniri (Bastia), Anthar Yahia (VfL Bochum), Samir Zaoui (ASO Chlef), Abderraouf Zarabi (FC Gueugnon)
Midfielders: Chadli Amri (FSV Mainz), Nader Belhadj (Lyon), Yacine Bezzaz (Valenciennes), Yazid Mansouri (Lorient), Karim Ziani (Marseille)
Strikers: Salim Arrache (Marseille), Hameur Bouazza (Fulham), Mansour Boutabout (Sedan), Nouredine Daham (Kaiserslautern), Kamel Fathi Ghilas (Vitoria Guimaraes), Karim Matmour (SC Freiburg), Rafik Saifi (Lorient).
