Council
OKs townhomes on Alabama
The
City Council awarded a 77-unit townhouse development
the additional six points it needed to qualify
for approval at Tuesday's afternoon session
of the City Council.
"They spent 18 months redesigning this
project. For the developer to get this far and
then to hold them up for six additional points
does not make sense to me," said Councilwoman
Pat Gilbreath.
The project sits on 6.7 acres on the northeast
corner of Alabama Street and Orange Avenue.
Residential developments are given points for
location, storm drainage, water distribution,
streets and open space.
