Thousands discover a world of culture at Malaga tourism fair
Malaga’s Cultural Tourism Fair, held in the city’s congress and exhibition centre last weekend attracted some 7,000 people, among them 5,000 members of the general public and 2,000 tourism professionals.
This is the fourth year that the fair has been held and its success is placing it among the most important showcases for culture-related tourism both in Spain and further afield.
The 140 stands were occupied by representatives of destinations all over the world, the most popular in terms of long distance travel being Egypt and China, while Andaluc?a’s own cultural havens were a favourite among those looking for weekend break ideas. The fair also brought about some 1,700 professional contacts at the workshops held parallel to the event.
On home soil, the representatives of Malaga were out in force, using the image of Picasso as one of their main cultural attractions and drumming up support for the campaign for the city to be European Culture Capital of 2016.
