Spain's beaches and sport draw in the tourists
Spain is the second most popular tourist destination in the world, it has been claimed.
According to the Sofia Echo, at a recent conference of the Spanish Tourism Institute and the Spanish Tourism Office (STO) in Vienna, director of STO Vienna Felix de Paz said that tourist numbers from 2006 revealed that Spain was the second most popular tourist destination in the world.
Meanwhile, the publication noted that Spain's beaches were its most popular draw for tourists while round-country tours, city breaks and language courses also played their part in the region's pull.
Those travelling to Spain's beaches should be sure to take out travel insurance as Halifax reported that beach bags can now carry up to ?1,000 worth of goods in them.
The newspaper claimed that the Costa Brava, the Costa Blanca, the Costa del Sol and Balearian and Canary Islands are major summertime destinations for tourists in addition to big cities Madrid and Barcelona.
