LAST WEEK, during the CTC-30 held in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean Travel Organisation (CTO) and various resorts in Puerto Rico feted and honoured the international travel media.

Nearly a week of events devoted to the writers and photographers for guide books, magazines, trade journals and radio broadcasters ended in the Caribbean Tourism Organisation-CTO Awards luncheon at the Puerto Convention Centre sponsored by Google.

The media representatives receiving awards for writing and photography, included: Tom van der Ley and Ruedi Leuthold of Columbus Magazine, Holland; Tom Uwlenbrock, St. Louis Post Dispatch; Stephen Ripley, Winnipeg Sun: Melanie Reffes, Travel Writer Of The Year; Michael Defreitas, Travel Writer/Photographer Of The Year-North America; David Swanson, -North American Travel Writer Of The Year; Alexia Brue, best feature article in a consumer magazine-North America; Theresa Storm, Best Online Feature-North America; Gay Myers, Travel Weekly- Best Feature Article in a trade publication-North America and Ty Sawyer, Island Magazine-Best Photographer, in conjunction with a feature article- North America.

Storm, who is from Canada stated: "I got bitten by the travel bug, and I got bitten bad."
