Norway Post : Norway's Prime Minister visits
Brazil

The visit begins
in Brazil, where Stoltenberg on Monday wll meet
the leaders of Brazil's state oil company Petrobras,
together with StatoilHydro CEO Helge Lund.
He will also open an oil-related
exhibition in Rio.
Norwegian oil and gas industry
have made major investments in the Brazilian
oil and gas industry.
On Tuesday the Norwegian Prime
Minister will be joined by the Norwegian Minister
of thee environment, Erik Solheim. They will
be received by President Lula da Silva, and
will then announce Norwegian financial support
for the protection of the Amazonas rain forest.
Wednesday they will travel on the
Amazonas, inspect the rainforest and meet with
local leaders.
On Wednesday the Norwegian delegation
will leave for Santiago, Chile, where they on
Thursday will meet President Michelle Bachelet.
“The visit reflects the increasingly
close ties between our countries. The Government
is interested in facilitating close cooperation
between Norway and both Brazil and Chile in
the private sector and the energy field as well
as in the international arena. In particular,
climate change and the fight against poverty
are important themes in our international cooperation,”
says Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
