National Geographic Adventure magazine says travel's newest trends have a common denominator: exploring the world on your own terms. In the November issue of the magazine, the editors put together this year's list of 25 of the most "innovative, exploratory and life-changing trips" you can take.
Some of those trips include embarking on the first carbon-neutral voyage to Antarctica, taking part in an archaeology dig in Fiji, biking across backcountry Namibia, tracking polar bears or tracing Marco Polo's route along the Afghanistan-Tajikistan Traverse.
