Kenya:Swedish Charter Operator Lands in Mombasa
By Philip Mwakio
An inaugural charter flight operated by My Travel Charter from Sweden landed at the Moi International Airport amid pomp and colour.
The plane, an Airbus 320, touched down at 8.30am with 340 Scandinavian tourists onboard on Thursday
Disembarking tourists were entertained by a Giriama traditional dance troupe before heading to the airport's parking bay where they boarded shuttle vans and buses to their respective hotels.
The Scandinavian countries include Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Tourists from these nations are considered to be very high spenders.
According to Mr Mohamed Eltaff, Chief Executive Officer of Tour Africa Safaris, the ground handling agents, said the airline would be flying to Mombasa every fortnight.
Eltaff said that they expected to be handling about 600 tourists every month.
About 80 per cent of the group that arrived would be visiting national parks and game reserves for wildlife safaris.
