German firms eye local tourism
A team of 35 German businesses sought opportunities for investment in tourism and environmental services during a working meeting with HCM City’s Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) last weekend.
The team led by Dr Harald Ringstorff, minister and president of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany, included 35 businesses involved in industry, environmental services, transport and ocean ship areas.
The German team shared experiences with the Vietnamese side on two spearhead industries in tourism and environmental services in Germany. Truong Trong Nghia, director of the city’s promotion centre, said the tourist industry had an annual growth rate of 20 per cent.
They said several German businesses would invest in projects for environmental protection to help the city improve living conditions.
Ringstorff, however, said to attract more German investors Viet Nam needed to refine certain laws and encourage investment in small- and medium-sized enterprises and promote trade ties with German companies.
