Nayeem was sacked by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) last week after the South Asian nation was eliminated by Tajikistan in the first round of 2010 World Cup qualifiers.
Nayeem wanted to continue in his job and take control of the team for the AFC Challenge Cup that starts next April.
"A coach needs to see the players when they are in action in domestic football. Preparation of the national team is a continuous process," Nayeem told local media.
"I have always wanted Bangladesh to play modern, attacking and entertaining football and I really respect the players' dedication despite many shortcomings. We could have used the long gap from international football by playing practice matches abroad for exposure."
My message to this country's football is that 'if you don't prepare, you are only prepared to fail'."
